The Green House is located in the small village of Mojstrana, in the north west corner of Slovenia.  Mojstrana is very close to the beautiful and famous city of Bled, and the borders of both Austria and Italy.  It lies in a valley on the edge of the stunning Triglav National Park, which offers an extensive variety of outdoor activities.  Mojstrana sits at the foot of the Three Heads Mountain (Triglav, 2,864m high) with views on one side of the mountains of the Julian Alps, and on the other of the valley floor with its rivers and lush green fields.

 

 

A straightforward 40-minute drive north links Ljubljana International Airport to Mojstrana.  The airports at Klagenfurt (Austria) and Trieste (Italy) are also relatively nearby.  You can find details of airlines and airports in the Travel Information section of this site.

 

 

The Green House is situated in the heart of the village, within walking distance of a supermarket, two traditional restaurants, a pizzeria, the tourist office, three bars, and a tennis club.  In the winter, the ski lift with apres-ski bar, ice rink and children's toboggan area is also within walking distance.  For the energetic, a half-day walk directly to the top of the mountain begins at the end of the street.

 

The larger, but equally attractive, town of Kranjska Gora is a 15-minute drive from Mojstana and widens the range of things to do.  For example, in the summer there's a toboggan and bike park, and in the winter there are 30km of well-groomed pistes.  You can find more details in the activities section of this website.  The less active will appreciate the many shops and restaurants in the town's charming square.

The fairytale setting of Bled - with its clear lake containing a picture postcard church on an island and a castle perched on a sheer cliff edge - is also only 15 minutes away.  This small town offers a host of fun and trendy bars and restaurants, as well as a casino and several wellness spas.  The lake's temperature and the lack of powered craft make it ideal for swimming in the summer, boating or just strolling around the shoreline. 

The coastal resort of Piran is a two-and-a-half-hour drive from Mojstrana and has a beach and ferry links to Italy.
